Jev plays Doom
A game loop that asks a model what to do roughly ten times a second.
TypeSafe’s launch demo hands Doom’s game state to Jev as structured data and takes a typed action back, around ten queries per second. The engineer who built it worried that rate was extravagant; it works out at roughly seven dollars an hour. It runs on a text description of the state rather than on frames, so this is reactive play, not vision.
Why it matters
Real-time control is the clearest case for a System One model: a reasoning model answering in seconds is already several hundred frames late.
