TypeSafe released jev-1.14.0 on 14 October 2026, at a Discord town hall it called JevDay. It is available as jev-preview, and jev-latest moves to it about a week later. Three experimental features came with it: image input on Jev 1.13 and 1.14, a Box answer type that returns one bounding box on 1.14, and an opt-in 262k context. TypeSafe says the three are preview features and not ready for production yet.

Images are still PNG or JPEG files, turned on per request with the header TypeSafe-Danger-Zone-Images: true. TypeSafe says Jev 1.13 “was multimodal all along”. There is still no audio or video input.

The price is unchanged at $0.042 per million input tokens, with output free. Images are billed as input tokens at the same rate, with no separate charge per image.

Nothing changes for a request that does not send the new headers or the new model ID. TypeSafe says it intends to give 60 days’ notice before it retires jev-1.13.0, and 30 days for jev-1.14.0.
